Science Curriculum

The important thing is to never stop questioning.
— Albert Einstein

Below is a brief outline of the science curriculum for each year group. Once your child is registered with us you will receive an information pack which includes the full curriculum. If you would like to enquire online, please click here.

❍ Developing the confidence, knowledge and skills to find answers to questions about the scientific world will be crucial for Hamptonians to become well-informed citizens. As well as appreciating the achievements of scientists who have gone before, the practical study of science teaches young people to plan and conduct investigations, gather information, work in a team and evaluate their findings - all vital transferrable skills for success in their wider education and life in general.

❍ The science curriculum aims to develop scientific knowledge and conceptual understanding of the disciplines of physics, chemistry and biology. Pupils will learn about nature, processes and methods of science through different types of science enquiries which help them understand the world around them. They learn about how science affects their lives today and what discoveries will mean for their future.

❍ The subject is very much practical-based and the children will learn to work together to solve problems by designing experiments and carrying them out. A range of computing programmes will be used in the subject and there is a strong link to technology.

❍ Our science curriculum starts right from foundation stage (EYFS) all the way through to the end of year 8 when they are a few years away from G.C.S.E.
